MARCH LINE-UP OF MUSICAL ENTERTAINMENT AND ART EXHIBITS

Acoustic Music Jam and Happy Hour every Thursday evening! All Musicians & Listeners welcome!

Friday, February 26 – Dinner & Entertainment 8-10pm – Morgan Davis – Beating the winter blues with the best blues in the house! www.morgandavis.com
Saturday, February 27 – Dinner & Entertainment 7-9pm – The Light Brights - " ‘The Light Brights dedication is nothing short of wholehearted’ ... ‘The show was rich with soulful tunes, and singer/guitarist Bethany Victoria delivered consuming, heartfelt vocals.’ ” - The Dalhousie Gazette www.myspace.com/thelightbrights

Friday, March 5 – Dinner & Entertainment 8-10pm – Naming the Twins - Take one seasoned singer songwriter and pair him up with an enthusiastic “fresh on the scene” vocalist, mix them together along with their love for harmonies, meaningful words and memorable melodies and what do you get? A keen new duo called “Naming the Twins”. Robbie Smith has been gracing the music world with lyrical songs for decades, has appeared on stage with Roger Whitaker, Pete Seeger and John Allan Cameron, has been on a good number of CBC radio shows, had his songs featured for many years on WQXR The Radio Station of the New York Times and has made several recordings, including an elaborate solo CD produced by Tim Feswick titled "Retro Debut". An active member of the Maritime music scene, Robbie has welcomed Kathleen Glauser's fine sense of harmony, rhythm and natural singing ability. Performing original Robbie songs and re-arranging and presenting their favourite material by other artists , their energy always delights audiences wherever they perform. http://www.myspace.com/namingthetwins

Saturday, March 6 – Dinner & Entertainment 7-9pm – Ricochet – Tanya Gadsden, Paul Stanhope and Ron Dillman

Sunday, March 7
– Art Show Reception 3-5pm – The Trellis Café has invited students from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design (NSCAD) to show their art work for the month of March. Student, Meaghan (Tabi) Power, has organized artwork from fellow students and her own work for this show. Come meet the artists on Sunday, March 7 at 3pm.

Friday, March 12– Dinner & Entertainment 8-10pm – T@B Thugs at Bay - Thugs at Bay, or t@b for short, could be called a folk music duet. They play original, acoustic music with guitar, fiddle and two voices. But that's the tip of the iceberg. As a pair, Ariana Nasr and Andy Flinn project the exuberant energy of a Caribbean septet. While Ariana sings jazzy melodies and plays reggae fiddle, Andy beat-boxes a vocalized bass line, plays guitar, and operates parts of a drum kit with his heels. There's nothing like them. http://www.myspace.com/thugsatbay

Saturday, March 13– Dinner & Entertainment 7-9pm – Michael Redden http://www.myspace.com/michaelredden

Wednesday, March 17
– St. Patty’s Day – Dinner & Entertainment 7-9pm – Back by popular demand again this year! SHENANIGAN with Don and Carol Webb, Peter Grant, Dyve Anderson & Andy Radin.

Friday, March 19
– Dinner & Entertainment 8-10pm – Three For Now (AKA; The Trellis Trio) Peter Grant, Jim Morton & Eric Marshall.
Saturday, March 20 – Dinner & Entertainment 7-9pm – Laurie McNeil & Rich Knowles Is there a doctor in the house? Piano Bar tunes with Dr. Laurie McNeil on keyboards and Rich Knowles on guitar.

Friday, March 26 – Dinner & Entertainment 8-10pm – Tobias Beale & Murray Brown - “This is jazz at its simplest and most unadorned: two gentlemen in an improvised duet. Murray Brown on piano, providing solid, sturdy harmonic backing and plain-spoken melodic embellishments that stand well on their own and a gracious accompaniment to Tobias Beale on sax and flute.”

Saturday, March 27 – Dinner & Entertainment 7-9pm – Shenanigan

Sunday, March 28– Art Show Reception 3-5pm – Carol Ann McNeil & Andrea Redmond - Following a career in the Advertising Industry, including print, radio and television work, Carol Ann turned her talents towards her love of creating art through independent study. She then embarked upon a series of workshops with numerous local, national and internationally esteemed professional artists/teachers, including Brian Atyeo, Moe Brooker, Cheng-Khee Chee and Charles Gruppe. http://www.carolannmcneil.com/ In 2009, Nova Scotia's artistic heritage was enhanced as the work of 35 local artists and craftspeople were added to the Nova Scotia Art Bank collection. Andrea Redmond was included in the 35 with her painting entitled Bowl of Fish.

OUT AND ABOUT AROUND THE ASPOTOGAN

Wednesday, March 10
– 6pm – Hubbards Farm Market AGM at the Trellis Café.

Sunday, March 21 – 4pm – St. Margaret’s Bay Skate Park Association Meeting at the Trellis Café. It is the dream, of this association, to build a permanent concrete skate park on the property of the Hubbards Recreation Center on Hwy 3, across from the old bowling alley. A slightly smaller version of the Chester Skate Park on the roadside of this property would create a well needed active sport facility for the youth of the community along St. Margaret’s Bay. It would also open up the wooded area surrounding the Rec Centre, making it more visible and welcoming for use. A skate park would create more traffic and activity to the entrance of Hubbards and make Hubbards just that much more attractive to newcomers and tourists. The reasons to build this park are endless! Come out and show the kids of this community that you support them and this idea, in principal.

SHOP LOCALLY – Mother Hubbards Eclectic Shopping, Michael & Tony’s Gourmet Foods, Lola’s Landing, Hubbards Pharmasave, V&S Variety, Hubbards Home Hardware, Hubbards Save Easy.

Warm winter wishes,
